Personal Message from the Owner: Season Expectation: Tony,

I have now decided on the goal for the coming season. After evaluating several factors, I have come to the conclusion that the team should at least reach the playoffs!

This is the first time Bill has expected us to reach the playoffs, my 5th year here, he has always expected us to play .500 ball.

We have an odd schedule this season, I guess since the expansion they mixed things up. We start with one game at home versus Chesapeake, then 4 in Chesapeake, followed by 4 at home for our first look at the Salisbury Ports, and then 4 versus Ocean City, then we finally get a day off. Fourteen games in a row, then we host the Richmond Cardinals, Don Sweetapple. That series is marked on my calender for sure.

Miguel Contreras will be getting the ball today in his first start as a Cavaliers, we are expecting a sell-out crowd and we are ready to get this season on the way!

With the owner expecting us to make the playoffs and our fans backing us like never before the pressure will be on for the Cavaliers to come out of the gate hot!!

We begin the season with six players from our original 2013 roster, and only one of them a pitcher. Here is a list of the guys that have enjoyed the ride:

Julio Romero
Mauro Candelaria
Pablo Freitas
Jose Rodriquez
Gilberto Ramos
Dalton Whitaker

Special mention to Jesus Rivera who started 2013 in AAA and finished the year with Norfolk, playing 86 games.

Other games of note:
In Salisbury, Don Sweetapple will be taking the mound for the Richmond Cardinals in his 5th opening day start, his first not in a Norfolk uniform.

And in Annapolis, Jose Villa will be on the mound for the Virginia Beach Surf Dawgs, facing off against his former team. Villa signed a huge 7-year deal with the Surf Dawgs, a deal a lot of analyst thought was crazy.
