A Crazy Month
August 1st, 1872
On July 23rd, the Haymakers dropped out of the NABBP citing financial issues. This led to an emergency meeting July 26th meeting where the remaining teams decided to add games to the schedule to make up for the lost teams. This was done despite Forest City and Mansfield being adamantly against this citing extra travel costs and little profit.
Batter of the Month Charlie Sweasy helped the Forest Citys with a .416 batting average and a 12 RBIs. Bentley once again won the Pitcher of the Month award going 4-0 with a 2.68 ERA.
