COLFAX TAKES 3RD IN A ROW 5-0
On the road in Kilkenny, Colfax took a giant step for the Ruthlandian League Championship with a 5-0 shutout over the Kilkenny Cats... Ron Paige tossed eight sharp innings, blanking the Cats on five hits with seven Ks and three bases on balls... Norb Harbison set down the Cats in order to seal the verdict... Colfax now has a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Colfax got their first two runs in the top of the third on an RBI double by CF Geno Calabrese (.310) and and RBI groundout by LF Chet Penn (.325)... 1B Ernie Kidd (.125) socked a three-run clout in the top of the sixth for the other Blaster runs... Colfax has hit 13 roundtrippers so far in the postseason... Celebrese went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles... Jon Kostro (1-1/2.60) went down to defeat, permitting five runs on six hits in his seven innings.

YOUNGER BLITZES STALLIONS 4-0 FOR SERIES LEAD
In the third game of the Tycobbian LCS at Jock Ewing Stadium in South Fork, the visiting Hartsdale Hellcats got a masterful performance from Gil Younger, who fired a seven-hit shutout to give them a game lead in the best-of-seven series... the Hellcats moved up two games to one... Younger whiffed nine batters in the game and issued three bases on balls.
Hartsdale had a 10-7 advantage in hits... LF Marv Shaw (.429) delivered four hits for the Hellcats... 3B Greg Melton (.353) drove in two runs with Shaw and SS Robinson Alomar (.367) plating the other two... South Fork 3B Eldon Jacoby (.316) went 3-for-4... Big Murph McAlister (0-1/5.60) suffered the loss... the Hellcats shelled him for ten hits and four runs in eigth-plus innings... Hartsdale got two in the first frame and two more in the third to give Younger some breathing room early.
