I've only started playing OOTP and I've found the best balance between micro-managing and quick games is to hit the RISP button until your team starts getting into trouble or your pitcher starts approaching their limits, then I sim at-bats until I decide to make a call to the bullpen then I sim RISP until 8th/9th inning to close it out.
