Since this issue popped up, I've actually had a much bigger fish to fry. My sim times had crawled to the point where it was taking 10 minutes or more to advance a single day. I thought it was something the patch had done, but even on an unpatched OOTP it was suffering the same problem. That's obviously unplayable.

Fortunately, since I did backup as recently as one game year ago, I am able to go back to a version that hasn't incurred these problems. I'm clearing up my database just in case, my league setup demands that I manually delete guys who don't reach a certain level or else too many guys will qualify as "major league" for the game's database to hold. I'm ok with going back the one year as my first round draft pick (this is more close to NFL type setup than MLN) completely tanked.

As I said before, as a longtime player I understand the need for backup, but I can't do them every game month as its simply not worthwhile to backup for substantial time periods for every 2 hours I play the game.
