I had a player in a long-running solo league who was hitting .400 with two days left in the season. I took him out of the starting lineup, but the AI manager used him as a pinch hitter in both games. He went 2-2 and finished at .402 for the year.
In hindsight I probably should have just played the games out, but I always marveled at the fact that he did what he did.
