Go to Page 1028/Section 20541 for a really outstanding photo of Bobby Young in his brief time with the Phillies (from Merkle923). (I haven't seen him with many photos of him as a Phil since he was with the team for only about half a season.) The below photo does have some historical interest, however. Young appeared with the Phillies for the first time on June 22, 1958 and was with the team for the rest of the season.
He was on the team's 40 man roster for the following season and this photo appeared in the team's 1959 Year Book. It seems like a spot was open for him on the bench for the '59 Phillies, however, Young decided to retire during Spring Training at age 34.
He hit .249 lifetime and was a regular for 4 seasons in a decade-long MLB career (1948-1958). He was the regular second baseman of for the last St. Louis Browns team (1953) and the first Baltimore Orioles team (1954).
