I sim in a few week increments. Adjust lineups infrequently as people come on and off the DL, or I get any other message.
Come playoff time, I usually sim games 1-3 or 4, then play out the rest.
To me, I prefer the GM aspect of the game. The only reason I set lineups manually is that sometimes I want to adjust playing time for a few players, and need to set that by hand.
