Trade
As the trade deadline looms I made one final trade in hopes to better the bullpen. I sent Essie Bookleman to the Chesapeake Blue Crabs in return for Will Rose. Rose will be moved into the set-up role and Elmer Hawkins will be moved to middle relief. Hawkins has been struggling this season, so hopefully taking the set-up pressure off of him will help us out.
This trade was made for 3 reasons, 1) Essie wasn't happy and his performance was showing 2) Will gives us another lefty in the pen, so now we have two and 3) hopefully, it will give the pen a boost. They have been our weakest link this season so hopefully this will help.
Financially this is a wash, Will makes a little more money, but we are receiving 1 million to off-set that. They both could be free agents by seasons end, so this may be a short term rental.
Earlier in the day Will Rose was traded to Chesapeake from the Milton Brewers.
This "should" be our last trade before the deadline.
