Week 13

Current Week: 3-3 (47-27 - GB, 1st (+12))
Next Week: 2 vs Newark Millers, 4 @ Washington Senators
Power Ranking: 1
Fan Interest: 71
Owners Mood: Ecstatic

Game 69
Norfolk 12, Georgetown 5
Jose Matos (7-5) went 8 strong innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs to bring home the win. Mauro Candelaria lead the offense going 3-4 with 4 RBI. Of the 13 hits, the Cav's had only 1 XB hit, a Kent Davis double. Pablo Freitas went 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 SB.

Game 70
Norfolk 3, Georgetown 4
Karl Armstrong (8-4) went all 8, but took the loss as the offense couldn't get anything going. Armstrong went 8, giving up 4 runs (3 ER) on 5 hits. The offense was lead by Jose Escamilla who went 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Pablo Freitas and Jose Rodriquez each added a hit and an RBI.

Game 71
Ellicott City 4, Norfolk 3
Javier Uberuagao (6-6) took the loss with a solid start. Javier went 7 innings, allowing 7 hits and 4 runs, the issue was the 3-HR's he gave up. The offense had 14 hits, left 8 on, and once again was powerless, only getting 1 XB hit. Kent Davis went 4-5 and Mauro Candelaria went 3-4 to lead the offense. Jose Rodriquez and Jesus Rivera each added 2 hits. Pablo Freitas had the only XB hit a double in the 1st.

(End of June)

Game 72
Ellicott City 0, Norfolk 9
Don Sweetapple (8-4) is in the zone, throwing a complete game 3 hitter, striking out 12. Giving him 25 K's in his last 2 starts. The offense once again had double digit hits and only 1 XB (a Jesus Rivera double in the first). Kent Davis had 3 hits and scored 3 times. Roberto Perez, Jose Rodriquez and Gilberto Ramos each had 2 hits. Rodriquez and Rivera drove in 3 each.

Transactions: Cooper Mananghaya was activated from the DL and assigned to AAA Yokohama. He threw 5.2 shut-out innings, getting the win in his return. He will stay in AAA for a little while longer, due to the aquisition of Javier Uberuaga.

Game 73
Ellicott City 4, Norfolk 6
Carlos Mateo (8-3) threw well for 6.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs. Dalton Whitaker pitched the 9th for the save (22). Glad to report we actually had some XB hits today. Mason Foster lead the offense with a 2-3 day with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Foster added his first ML HR (1). Pablo Freitas also added 2-hits and a HR (13).

Game 74
Ellicott City 5, Norfolk 4 (11 Innings)
Jose Matos (ND) went 6.1 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. Jamie King (1-1) took the loss going 4.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, he gave up a 2-run blast in the top of the 11th. The offense only managed 6 hits, one by 6 different players. Th eonly extra base hit was a double by Jose Rodriquez.

Players of the Week:
Delaware: Andy Kohl, Dover Generals, 12-21, 2 HR's, 8 RBI, 7 Runs
MarVa: Francisco Reyes, Ocean City Tourists, 9-25, 5 HR's, 11 RBI

Power Rankings:
1) Norfolk Cavaliers (115.3)
2) Chesapeake Blue Crabs (112.9)
3) Annapolis Admirals (109.5)
4) Lewes Braves (106.2)
5) Wilmington Iron Pigs (103.2)

Notable Feats:
John Bowles, Baltimore Barons, went 4-4 hitting or the cycle, he becomes the 4th player ever in DelMarVa League history to do so.

Notable Injuries:
none

GM Thoughts/Notes: For some reason this team has all of a sudden turned into a singles team. I need to look back at the stats, but it seems like XB hits have been few and far between lately. We have too much pop with our 2-4 hits to only hit 1 or 2 HR's a week... Sweetapple is a man on a mission. Makes me think he is pitching for a contract. If he does chose to stay another year in Norfolk, I will do what it takes to get him an extension. I have decided not to trade him, unless we tank in July and August, but right now I am playing for a Championship... Kent Davis is just on fire this year. At his current pace he will break the league record for hits in a season. Seems like 2-3 times a week he puts together a multi-hit game... I don't foresee any trades happening in July, so this will be the first full month with our "new" rotation. I am looking forward to see what they have.
