Rene was a bit overwhelmed by the moment and though he exhibited a strong defense, he just didn't punch enough, and, while Mike wasn't at his best he put his combinations together well and won a clear UD. 117-111, 117-113 & 116-113


(WBO) David Haye 27-0-2 (17) vs Alex Leapai 30-6-2 (17)
(5th Defense)

Haye put a frightful beating on Alex, cutting him over both eyes and nearly closing his right after only two rounds. In the third David dropped Leapai with a right hand just before the bell and though Alex showed grit by stunning the champion with a right hand in round four, the facial damage was too extreme and the bout was stopped in round five.


(IBO) Tony Thompson 25-0-1 (15) vs Eric Kirkland 22-0 (14)
(3rd Defense)

Kirkland used movement and his jab to control the first three rounds, but Tony connected with a three punch combo just before the bell ending round three that opened a bad cut over Eric's right eye. That totally changed the fight as Thompson dropped the challenger in round four and dominated until he dropped him again in round nine with an uppercut and flurried until the ref stepped in.


Chazz Witherspoon 36-5-2 (25) vs Eddie Chambers 22-1-1 (10)

Rematch: D10

Eddie put on the best performance of his career, drilling Witherspoon with hard right hands behind his stinging jabs that had both eyes swelling after two dominant rounds. A triple jab opened a gash over Chazz' right eye early in the third and the crimson was the cause of an immediate stoppage.


Tye Fields 19-0 (15) vs Derric Rossy 29-7-2 (12)

Fields used his size and clubbing power to keep Rossy on the defensive for much of the contest, a wicked uppercut dropped Derric in the third and with the exception of a nice rally by Rossy in rounds seven and eight, Tye had control and walked away with the UD. 99-91, 98-92 & 96-93


Audley Harrison 19-3 (17) vs Garret Simon 42-16-2 (24)

Audley was cut over his left eye in the opening round, but he rebounded by flooring Simon in the second with a straight left and then again in the fourth with an uppercut, the ref stepped in early in round five after Harrison cornered Simon and unleashed several powerful left hands.
