Game 40
Norfolk 3, Milton 1
Karl Armstrong (6-2) continues another strong season, throwing 7-innings of shutout ball, while only giving up 2 hits, while striking out 5. Dalton Whitaker threw the 9th for the save (11). The offense had 9 hits, Kent Davis was the only player with more than one going 2-3. Pablo Frietas provided all the Cavaliers runs on a 3-run blast (6) in the 8th.
Game 41
Norfolk 9, Milton 0
Carlos Mateo (4-2) followed up Karl's strong performance with one of his own, going 7 innings of shutout ball, allowing 2 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 4. The offense was lead by Pablo Freitas with a 3-4 day, he drove him 3, scored 3 times and hit a solo-HR (7). Jose Rodriquez had a 2-run HR (7) and Roberto Perez, Mauro Candelaria and Yasutoki Ine each had 2 hits. Perez scored 3 times.
Game 42
Ellicott City 7, Norfolk 0
Don Sweetapple (5-3) had a rough start, giving up 6 runs on 10 hits over 6.2 innings. He still had good enough stuff to strike out 8 though. The offense was held scoreless on 7 hits. The lone "star" was Mauro Candelaria who went 2-4 with a double.
Game 43
Ellicott City 3, Norfolk 8
Tsuneo Sato (3-3) threw 8 solid innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. The offense had 11 hits, including a 4-5 day by Kent Davis. Davis drove in 3 and scored once. 8 different Cavaliers scored runs. If there were any other highights it would of been Jesus Rivera and a 2-run PH in the 8th.
Game 44
Ellicott City 7, Norfolk 9
Karl Armstrong (ND) got roughed up, but the offense fought back so he didn't take the loss. Armstrong went 5.1 innings, giving up 10 hits and 7 runs. Jamie King (1-0) got the win throwing 1.2 innings of 1-hit ball. Dalton Whitaker pitched the 9th for the save (12).
Transactions: After hitting .421 in a 5-game rehab stint Tomas Reyes will be rejoining the Cavaliers. Yasutoki Ine has been sent back down to AAA. Ine hit .206 during his time with the Cavaliers (7-34).

GM Thoughts/Notes: Defensively we are riding high, and that is great. I love having a solid D to back up our pitchers... Sweetapple has been awesome this season, till his previous outing. I changed the rotation back to strict, maybe I was pitching him a little too much. But we went through a stretch of 2 weeks with 2 days off. Figured he could handle it. Now its time to trust Cooper... We have great team speed, which is something we have lacked in the past. We lead the league in steals and have the top 3 guys on the leader board... Dalton Whitaker has settled nicely into the closers role, making us forget Carlos Rodriquez. Still a long season though... The t
