Well, don't forget that this version has a MLB Quickstart based on 2012 statistics and results. 2013 will be part of next year's version.

Your question is interesting though. What if you were to start with this MLB Quickstart and tinker with the rosters before simulating the 2013 season? The goal, of course, would be to replicate as closely as possible the results that we just saw.

So, for example, I would definitely tone down the ratings of the Toronto Blue Jays who, IIRC, were the favorites to win the AL East in 2013. You saw how that worked out, right?

So you would go into their roster and, using the player editor feature with your commissioner authority, scale back the ratings of their key players. The editor gives you a forecast of statistics as you edit player ratings.

Once you have players on correct rosters (reflecting trades, call-ups, injuries, etc.) and projected to play as closely to their actual 2013 performances, then you might sim a month at a time and "tweak" things as necessary.

There are probably tons of other things I'm leaving out, but you get the idea. Sounds like a lot of work, though. Maybe wait a few (five or six?) months and get the real deal for 2013 when OOTPB 15 is released?
