In need of some help here. I have a minor leaguer that I accidentally did not protect from the rule 5 draft because he was on the disabled list and I didn't realize. He hasn't spent a day in the majors and was taken in the draft while he was injured. I didn't have a recent backup so I took commish control and placed him back on my team.

Come June 15th the next season he finally is ready to come off the DL. Because the game thinks he was taken in the rule 5 draft I had to place him on the active roster and can't put him in the minors. I can't figure out how to stop this. Any ideas, because I'd rather wait another few months before promoting him to the bigs. I'm fine with doing something in commish mode, but I can't figure out how to solve the problem.
