Roster Rules

Some small roster rules that I would like to see addressed:

1) Outright Assignments
Players removed from the 40-man roster (and outrighted to the minors) for the 2nd time in their career can elect free agency immediately or after the season. See more discussion here. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post3585949

2) In-season 1-year Extensions for Arbitration Eligible players
This happens too frequently as it is, but the mistake is magnified when a player with 5+ years of service time signs an extension during the season when they would be eligible for free agency after the season.

I propose that when evaluating extension offers, the player calculates their service time on what it would be at the end of the year. So a player with 5 years, 100 days in May would have over 6 years at the end of the year and would change their demands accordingly. Or a player that has spent 100 days in the minors already during the season could expect to earn up to 80(ish) days of service time if they spent the rest of the season on the major league roster, so would have salary expectations based on that number.
