Jr Lightweight Third Round
Manny Pacquiao 154-15-3 (140) vs John-John Molina 30-10-1 (23)
Manny's rapier left hand couldn't miss Molina from the opening bell, he busted open his nose in round one and staggered him four times in round two before the ref stepped in with Pac hammering him along the ropes at the end of the second stanza.
Azumah Nelson 42-2 (34) vs Greg Coverson 18-2-1 (4)
Coverson countered brilliantly at times, but the Professors pressure had Greg up against the ropes for the most of the fast paced bout and Nelson took a surprisingly majority decision. 118-110, 117-111 & 114-114
Alexis Arguello 79-6 (70) vs Ever Beleno 13-6-2 (8)
Arguello dropped Beleno early with an uppercut and unloaded with both hands until the bout was stopped after just over half a round.
Ben Villaflor 21-0 (7) vs Jorge Solis 28-14-1 (15)
Solis exploded out of his corner and walked into a short hook that sent the Mexican stumbling across the ring. Villaflor pounced on him with blazing combos and the bout was halted late in round one.
Sandy Saddler 62-4-1 (50) vs Arturo Gatti 57-22-2 (37)
In what was expected to be a walkover, Gatti took a beating over the first three rounds but he clipped Sandy with a hook in round four and he pummeled the favored Saddler throughout the three minutes, at the end of the round the ref was looking closely as Thunder blasted hooks to the body and head.
Arturo continued to excel over the next two rounds, hammering Sandy with crushing hooks and uppercuts as the crowd roared. Saddler bounced back in round seven and he scored with both hands that left Gatti with two swollen eyes heading back to his corner. They traded evenly in round eight as the spectators continued to cheer the underdog on.
Saddler staggered Gatti twice in round nine with short hooks and early in the tenth he floored Arturo with a three punch combo, a blistering body attack ensued and an uppercut put Gatti down again; he arose at seven but was unable to continue after the best effort of his life.
Floyd Mayweather, Jr. 96-3-2 (55) vs Ricky Burns 15-6 (4)
Burns proved to be tough, but he had nothing to keep Floyd honest with and Mayweather dominated, scoring a knockdown in the final round to seal the lopsided UD. 120-108 x2 & 119-108
Carlos Hernandez 15-6-1 (6) vs Regilio Tuur 16-4-1 (7)
This was a nice contrast with Tuur using his speed to out-box Hernandez early and Famoso charging after rocking Regilio several times in rounds seven and eight. 'Turbo' Tuur did enough early to take the MD. 115-113, 115-114 & 114-114
Julio Cesar Chavez 72-6-3 (52) vs Jesus Chavez 20-16-5 (11)
Julio floored Jesus in the third with a hook and broke him down to the body and head until two more knockdowns in round nine and a barrage of blows afterwards forced the ref to step in.
