Week 13 Notes: 4 vs Delaware (2-2), 3 at Indiana (2-1)
· 06/29: MI 11, DE 1 – Jim Jeansonne CG, 1 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 6 K – Steve Krauskopf 2-3, 2 HR, 4 RBI
· 06/30: MI 9, DE 3 – Francisco Ramos 4-4, 2B, BB, 3 RS – Chris Calzadilla 6.0 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 6 K, W (4-6, 4.39)
· Skipper Ramos now has a 13-game hitting streak to go with his 4-4 day!
· Steve Krauskopf won the Eastern States League Rookie of the Month Award for June! He hit .418 in June with 8 homers and 28 RBI. He also scored 20 runs.
· International amateur free agent signing has just begun. We put in two solid offers to the top two prospects according to our scouting department.
· Rhode Island closer Alex Acosta will miss the next year at least after suffering a torn UCL. He will undergo Tommy John as soon as the swelling subsides.
· 07/01: DE 7, MI 2 – Jimmy Markley (DE) 7.0 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 9 K – Steve Muller 0.2 IP, 6 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 K, L (5-5, 3.86)
· 07/02: DE 6, MI 5 – Adam Pettus (DE) 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI – Brandon Sublet 3-3, HR, RBI, 2 BB, 2 RS
· A highly disappointing split because we should have closed out that final game to win the series, and Muller didn't even get out of the first in game 3.
· 07/03: MI 4, IN 3 – Jose Cuevas 7.0 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 6 K, W (10-4, 4.38) – Skipper Ramos 4-5, 2B, 2 RS (.382/.439/.481)
· 07/04: MI 10, IN 4 – Steve Krauskopf 3-3, 2 HR (22), 3 RBI, 2 BB, 4 RS – Jim Jeansonne 5.1 IP, 3 ER, 8 H, 1 BB, 4 K, W (8-3, 2.93)
· Francisco “Skipper” Ramos's hitting streak ended at sixteen games.
· 07/05: IN 6, MI 5 – Jason Dahle (IN) 1-2, HR, 2 RBI, 2 RS – Chris Kearns 0.2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 K, BS (2)
· A series win, but again disappointing because we didn't close out another game.
· Next Week: 3 at Pennsylvania, 3 vs Wisconsin
We are now in extended negotiations with the two international amateur free agents we mentioned above. Both prospects rate as an 80 potential according to our scout, Bobby Hines. We are negotiating with CF Victor “Grasshopper” Valnezula of Venezuela, and RF Pedro Garcia of the Dominican Republic. Our current offers sit at 1.875M with our cap at 1.8M. We are currently at 104% of the cap, so we will see if our situation winds up being affected for next season if one, or both players sign with our organization.
We are at the actual half-way point in our schedule, but I will save an extended wrap-up for the All-Star Break, which will take place after this next upcoming week of play.
