Jr Lightweight- Second Round
Hector Camacho 74-22-4 (26) vs Jorge Barrios 15-5-1 (9)
Hector was indeed 'Macho', drilling Barrios with blinding combos from the opening bell. He floored Jorge in the second with a hook and had his right eye rapidly swelling when the ref stopped the slaughter in round four.
Jose Luis Castillo 85-16-2 (53) vs Jackie Beard 24-16-4 (8)
This was another blow out, Jose pounded his body with hooks in the first two round before laying Jackie out for the count in round three with a combination.
Joel Casamayor 38-1-1 (20) vs Carlos Ivan Velasquez 10-8-2 (8)
Carlos had his moments in the first half of the bout, scoring with sharp one-twos, but Joel got nasty down the stretch and pounded the Puerto Rican in tight, closing his left eye and winning the solid UD. 97-93 x2 & 96-94
Roger Mayweather 49-9-2 (32) vs Takahiro Ao 30-10-1 (11)
Mayweather scored with punishing right hands from the beginning and he dropped Ao in the third and caused the stoppage in round six when he was tattooing Takahiro in the corner.
Kid Chocolate 42-2-1 (19) vs Joey Gamache 22-16-2 (5)
This was a total mismatch, the Cuban dropped Gamache in the first and knocked him out cold with a sizzling hook in round two.
Flash Elorde 37-3 (21) vs Vicente Mosquera 11-6-3 (1)
Elorde's speedy combinations made a bloody, swollen, mess of Vicente's face, but he managed to last the distance and even hurt Gabriel with a right hand in the ninth round. Elorde took the wide UD, but he had to work for it. 100-91, 99-92 & 98-92
Chan Ka Kui 41-3-1 (21) vs Orlando Zulueta 22-16-6 (4)
These styles did not mesh at all, the speed of Kui allowed him to land more frequently and he earned the UD, but it was far from impressive. 98-93, 98-94 & 96-95
Yuriorkis Gamboa 38-9 (25) vs Ricky Lyons 11-9 (4)
They traded violently in the first two rounds and Lyons buckled Gamboa's legs twice with counter right hands. This backed Yuri off and he switched tactics to hit and move and it enabled him to escape with the SD. 98-94, 95-96 & 96-95
