Dombrowski is not stupid, and he's going to pick a manager who is not a fit for the Tigers, and he's not going to put a rookie in the job.
Lynn Henning of the Detroit News
gives a run-down of the likely candidates, something very much worth reading, and even speculates that Tony LaRussa, if he can be coaxed out of retirement for one year, would be a very good fit for the Cats.
Henning makes a lot of sense - including getting LaRussa if he can be pried away from the gilded cage of administration.
There really isn't much
good managerial timber out there for the having these days. It's a pity Francona or Maddon aren't available.
