The player I used as an example was at 1-2 months then the team got an E-mail stating he was ready. I'll see if I can find the email.

The game won't outright inform you of the progress of a player, but his status on the Disabled List will. In the attached picture, Brett Gardner's injured time will count down by one every day until he's ready to come back. No matter how long the injury, once it gets down to the final few days, it will tell you an exact timetable - barring a setback. A setback can also happen to players with, say, a "1-2 weeks" return date. But the number will never jump forward, only backwards (at least that I've seen).
