LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES BEGIN TODAY
The IPA Pro Cup teams have been shaved down to four. Pro Cup favorite North Hills survived a tough series with Turon and is still in the running to repeat as the champion of the Islands. North Hills had captured three of the last five Pro Cups. The Hawks will meet the fourth-ranked Arlon Champions in the Tycobbian Union Championship Series.
Arlon got past the number-eight choice East Point in the first round. In the Ruthlandian Championship Series the fifth-pick Waleska will tangle with sixth-rated Sligo, who upset third-ranked Cold Creek in the opening round. Waleska whipped Far Mountain, the sixth choice in the Pro Cup poll.
All four clubs were impressive in Division Series. Waleska suffered a serious loss when ace pitcher Terry Richards (18-8/2.64) was lost for the playoffs due to injury. Arlon will also be missing its number one starter Ronny Farnsworth (21-8/2.64) for the first few games of the series. Farnsworth is day-to-day with a sore back. Lanny Gray (16-15/3.38) has taken his spot in the rotation.
