To reiterate point #4 with another example:
Just started a World Series, where my CPU managed opponent arrived with 4 players sitting on the DL, fully healthy. All are quality players: two are everyday starters, one a starting pitcher, and the last a utility infielder. The patchwork team of replacements even took game #1, but after that was easily demolished.
What a disappointment to get to the end of the season and face an inferior opponent, who was only so because of management blunders.
Please revisit the logic of playoff preparation for the CPU managed teams. With every new season, I find the CPU finds new ways to blow a shot at the championship.
