That was the other change in 2007, the way in which injured players could be replaced between playoff series.
Originally, injured players could only be replaced before the start of a playoff series, and such replacement had to have a pitcher replacing a pitcher and a non-pitcher replacing a non-pitcher (the specific field position didn't matter). For 2007 this requirement was dropped for injury replacements made before a playoff series, and the ability to replace a player injured during a playoff series was added (but with the restriction of a pitcher replacing a pitcher and a non-pitcher replacing a non-pitcher).
