What OOTP does with schedule files is that it swaps around teams within the match-ups to produce a new schedule. So you'll have have the same number of games on the same days, but the opponents will be different based on the swapping around OOTP does in the match-up 'slots'.

For example, let's say you have four teams in an East Division: Baltimore, Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. The opening day in the schedule called for just one game, Baltimore at Boston. In your second season, there'd still be only game on opening day, but the opponents will be any of the East Division teams. So the game might be Baltimore at New York, or it might be Boston at Philadelphia, or New York at Boston, etc. The teams are swapped with the schedule 'slot' match-ups around to produce a variety.

Thanks for that response! I know there are mods for schedules out there... how easy are they to use and are they user friendly? I'd like to maybe generate a different schedule each year... oh and are they time consuming or something quick and relatively easy?
