From a player perspective the actual amount of money matters less than rank ie " I want to be the 5th best paid etc.

Actually I just looked at FA signings in my league as I'm in the last week of ST and I have the opposite problem. Players who have no business getting any decent contract are getting ridiculous term and money. I'd much prefer that declining marginal players go unsigned. See below

Foote got 7 years $70M
Carranza got 7 years $77M

Note that one is fragile and the other is wrecked. The AI seems unable to include injury history into evaluation.

I suspect that my AI eval of 30 30 30 10 may be the problem.

On balance I think you are better off than me.
My AI eval is set at 65/20/10/5.

And yes, I think I'd rather have my problem.

Also, there does seem to be a lot of money sloshing around the league. The first few years every team seemed impoverished. Now almost all of the teams are quite well off.

I'd try negotiating an extension, but he never got into the range of reasonableness.

His demand has now lessened to 2 years, but still wants 16.8MM per.
