Eugenio Baca won his league leading 22nd game going 6-9-3-3-3-4 and the Clipper offense pounded Shimizu for 6 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks in 3.2 innings. Pancho Villareal and Matt Lynch both had 3 hit days.

MINORS NEWS-Juneau won 10-1 clinching a playoff berth.

Keith Hansen had a season worst day in giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits, 3 walks and 2 homers, moving his ERA from 2.97 to 3.51. Stan Hall went 6-9-3-3-0-11 in his next to last start of the year. His ERA climbing to 1.57 (1.568 to be exact, still ahead of Brandon Webb's 1.611). Bob Harrell went 3-5 with a double (26) and Cole Martin was 3-5 with 2 homers and 2 RBI's (106).

MINORS NEWS-To fill a newly opened position in Spokane, I've hired former Roughrider ace Sergio De La Garza as their new pitching coach.

Matt Lynch hit a 2 run homer off Cisco Casas which ended up the game winner. Just Casas' 3rd blown save of the year. John Drake went 6-8-2-2-1-6 to finish the year 18-6 3.12. Doug Russell went 8-11-3-3-1-4 in the win. Enrique Garcia went 3-3 with an RBI (43) in the loss. Columbus swept us, and in the process clinched a wild card berth. Drake lost his chance to win 20, so will not make his final start in preparation for the playoffs, unless we change our minds. We have a first round bye.

Mike Bowman won his career high 19th going 6 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 3 hits. Christian Holland was 3-5 with 3 doubles (35), scored 3 runs and drove in 2 (61) in his 1st game off the DL. Anthony Hawkins was 2-3 with a double (24) homer and 3 RBI's (82). Jorge Viera went 1-5 with a walk and 2 stolen bases (63).

David Rodgers retired not a single batter in the 1st, giving up 6 runs (5 earned) before Carlos Hernandez came in to throw 4.2 hitless innings. Jesse Small went 8-4-3-2-0-7 for the win.

NEWS-Shimizu is at 206.1 innings between AAA and the IBL, so he's going to get shut down before the playoffs.
