My memory may be going bad (it is the second thing that goes when you start getting old, unless I'm forgetting the exact order), but I'd swear the Braves had every intention of holding Aaron out of the game and the last comish with any nads ordered them to play him that night. He used the "not in the best interests of baseball" clause like it was going out of style. I'm pretty sure the owners have taken that clause and the power that came with it out of the commissioners hand.
