A LOOK AROUND THE MINORS
A new rookie league has begun this season and Alaska will field a team in Westbrook.
AAA EAGAN
Off to a great start. Shimizu struggled early on but has regained his footing. David Rodgers and Paul Williams, as well as Rich Jordan are all knocking on the door. John Kelley was the AAA POTW, but is on the DL now and Tony Deleon is having a great season. Raul Aguilar is coming along a bit slower than hoped, but Paul Barkman and Paco Martinez are having good years. Our scouts don't see it, but Chris Craig just keeps hitting. He can't play IBL defense as a catcher but hopefully someone thinks highly enough of him to potentially move him if I can. CF Don Roy is much the same, nice bat but marginal glove. Rodriguez is having another very good season, and top pick Leon Whaley is getting his feet wet as the youngest reliever in AAA.
AA KODIAK
Bouncing back after a slow start, SP prospects Elijah Potts and Lloyd Cole have just been promoted and made their first AA starts. Miller is ranked as a prospect but I think the value is more outside the organization. He is a marginal defensive player in RF, but with a monster power bat (18/19 gap/power potential) but scouts worry he won't hit for enough average to offset the poor defense. He's just 22, so there's time.
A SPOKANE
Off to a good start. Everett Gray was struggling in AA, and sent down, punching out 14 in his first start. Ramon Velazquez if having a very good year, as is top prospect Gabriel Guerra.
A YAKIMA
A team struggling to pitch. 2028 top pick Brady Davis has had a yo-yo first two months, but is beginning to throw the ball much better. 20 year old Manny Barrera is starting to open some eyes.
