Well, I've done a rather small amount of testing but a large amount of playing. It was because I never saw these things happen that I started testing. So I'm working off more than 4 seasons of data, although most of it is not controlled or precisely measured.

I think Erithtotl has it partly right, as does the person who said that the game doesn't account for players who actually get hot (as opposed to lucky, which is interpreted as hot) in a given day or week.
