The only thing that doesn't count during September Roster expansion is days on the active roster. Option (b) above is the only one that depends on accumulating time during the period of the 25-player limit. The stats are for all major league stats. So either (a)
or (b) is what qualifies/disqualifies him from being a rookie.
So if a batter were to somehow get 131 ABs in September (not going to happen) he would not be eligible for ROY the following year.
