Round 1 - Part 1:

Professor William Miller 0-1-0 (0) vs Joe Askew 0-1-0 (0) -
Miller seemed to be getting the better of it, but a horrific gash on the bridge of his nose in the 3rd round continued to widen until the referee halted the bout in the 6th round on the suggestion of the ring doctor for the Askew TKO upset win.

Tom Lees 2-1-0 (2) vs Dick Atkinson 1-1-0 (0) -
After a solid 1st round Lees scored an early knockdown in the 2nd then poured it on for the TKO as Atkinson clearly was unable to fend for himself at the time of the stop.

Solomon Haumono 1-1-0 (1) vs Auckland Auimatagi 0-1-0 (0) -
Haumono dominated, scoring a 6th round knockdown then another early in the 9th that gave him time to finish the job with a perfect uppercut for the 10 count later in the round.

Peter Felix 0-1-0 (0) vs Bill Blakeley 0-1-0 (0) -
Felix was on the hunt from the opening bell, landing some huge shots then a hook on the button that put Blakely out for the count only 2:39 into the bout.

Jim Scanlon 1-1-0 (1) vs Billy Buck 0-1-0 (0) -
Scanlon set the tone with a 1st round knockdown then scored the KO in the 5th to move on in the tourney.

Jimmy Ryan 2-1-0 (2) vs Danny Buzza 1-1-0 (1) -
Ryan was in control from the opening bell, then dropped Buzza in the 8th round and was landing some punishing shots in the 9th when the referee halted the bout for the TKO. Most felt the hook was a bit quick, but Buzza clearly was out classed in this one.

James Ryan 1-1-0 (1) vs Tony Coyne 0-1-0 (0) -
Ryan was by far the better pugilist in this one, building up a huge lead then a frustrated Coyne landed his second low blow and third foul of the fight in the 11th and was disqualified.

Craig Petersen 1-1-0 (0) vs Rudy Darno 1-1-0 (1) -
A good tactical bout saw these two go back and forth trading rounds early then Peterson gradually built up a small lead. Needing a miracle in the 15th round, Darno came out trying to end it, and while he didn't finish Petersen, he did score the lone knockdown of the fight. I had it 142-142 even on the strength of a 10-8 15th round for Darno while the judges had it 144-141 Darno, 142-142 even and 143-142 for Petersen, for the draw.

Ted Gray 2-1-0 (0) vs Marc Ecimovic 1-1-0 (1) -
Ecimovic was up on all three cards, having scored a 3rd round knockdown as he controlled the pace throughout. Gray landed a vicious overhand right that put Ecimovic down for the count in the 10th to pull out the come from behind KO.

Mark De Mori 0-0-0 (0) vs Jim Fogarty 0-1-0 (0) -
De Mori wasn't at his best, losing a point in the 3rd for his second foul then going down in the 4th before Fogarty finished the job with the KO on a looping left in the 8th round for the minor upset.

Rematch:

Craig Petersen 1-1-1 (0) vs Rudy Darno 1-1-1 (1) -
Another close tactical bout was Darno build up a lead on the strength of a 10th round knockdown only to see Petersen close strong to pull out the 143-142, 143-142 and 144-141 decision as he dominated the final 4 frames.
