Jonathan Victor Barrios 0-0-0 (0) vs Jose Estrella 1-1-0 (1) - A dirty inside fight, both men lost points for fouls during the 15 rounds. Barrios was by far the more powerful, dropping Estrella in the 12th and 14th rounds to earn the 143-139, 143-141 and 145-137 decision.

Juan Domingo Malvarez 3-1-0 (2) vs Jose Mario Lopez 1-0-0 (0) - A dominant performance as Malvarez opened his campaign for a 2nd straight World Tourney berth by scoring 4 knockdowns enroute to a 12th round TKO over a game but out gunned Lopez.

Ricardo Gonzalez 1-1-0 (0) vs Remigio Molina 2-1-0 (2) - Molina earned a 6th round TKO over the favored Gonzalez last time out. This time it was close, but Gonzalez was stronger, scoring a pair of knockdowns to Molina's one. This fight was made closer by a bad call on a low blow by the referee when he deducted a point from Gonzales. The judges scored it 141-141, 142-140 and 144-138 for Gonzalez.

Claudio Martinet 1-1-0 (0) vs Juan Gerado Cabrera 0-1-0 (0) - A highly compeititive bout between two even fighters ended abruptly when Martinet broke his right hand in the 8th round to hand Cabrera the 8th round TKO. Martinet was up on 2 of the three cards when the fight ended.
