Trade Trims Phillies Roster
Prior to opening day, the Phillies made a trade to trim their roster to 25 players. After waiving Greg Gross, they had two more spots to trim. Joe Cowley and Tom Hume were sent to the White Sox in exchange for pitchers Jim Winn and Joel Davis who were each optioned to AAA Louisville.
With that deal, the Phillies roster was set for opening day. Expectations are lofty with some thinking the team should make the playoffs.
