Not at all. As has been mentioned, there are numerous examples of players who missed a significant amount of time due to personal issues - which certainly could include non baseball medical conditions such as vertigo. Wouldn't be the first, or last, time a player had a medical condition that they kept private by calling it a personal issue. That could also entail any number of other things, including family problems as well. Players have been known to take time off to deal with ailing spouses or children. Even if the manager said he'd only be out a few days, that could easily be explained as the player decided to take more time off for whatever reason. You have to be able to have a little creativity and be able to kind of fill in the blanks in some situations in this game. Not everything will make perfect sense in the way the game presents it, but you can make it work in your mind if you want to.
I can't blame you for changing it, especially if you're playing a historical sim, but it's definitely not a bug.
