I like the GS tracking idea very much.
Along the lines of your award/team comment, I (the AI, actually) traded for Red J Smith on August 20, and he left Tampa Bay and joined my Rockies.
He had 526 PAs with the Rays and was batting .368 for them. He winds up winning the AL Batting title.
When the news item was generated for his winning of the batting title it said "Smith's .263 Best in American League" (that's what he hit for me, Colorado, for the remainder of the season).
It was amusing.
