NEWS/NOTES
Columbus makes another deal and now they're stacked at the top of their lineup, and in the outfield as they acquire Karl Carter from the Hooks. A career .326 hitter with a .385 OBP in 575 games for Corpus Christi. He's a free agent at years end and I'd imagine they'll work to sign him. Two decent arms in return, but if they resign him, they stole him imo.
Both Vegas and Corpus Christi are less than 8 games out, but it feels like the Hooks, based on these two trades, are 'rebuilding'? Their owner, Scott Barker, came into the season with Championship expectations but apparently their baseball ops folks have gone into rebuild mode. I hear his argument is that with the leagues 5th highest budget (140M) they should be playing for it all. They're in the midst of a nice 5 out of 6 year run making the post season, and having won their 1st world series title in their first trip (2021), they want more.
