Bantamweights Fourth Round

Fidel LaBarba 72-8-4 (18) vs Miguel Lora 18-3-2 (10)

LaBarba built up an early lead mainly behind his jab and Lora struggled to get his offense going. The middle rounds were tight, if not exhilarating, and there was little to choose between them. Miguel struck in the tenth when he staggered Fidel with a hook and hammered him in the corner over the final minute of an extremely dominant round. Lora again took the eleventh with powerful shots before Fidel rebounded to out-box the Colombian in the twelfth. The SD surprisingly went the way of Lora 118-111(LOL), 113-115 & 114-113

Wilfredo Gomez 71-10-1 (55) vs Alfonso Zamora 19-3-1 (15)

Bazooka used his superior skills to take the first two rounds, though Zamora opened a cut on Wilfredo's left eyelid with a right hand late in the opening round. Gomez continued to out-box him in the third but Zamora landed a crushing left hook that staggered his foe and the mexican got the best of a toe to toe exchange that ended round three. With his cut reopened, Wilfredo came out for the fourth with a vengeance and he dropped Alfonso for a nine count with a hook to the body; after an elongated flurry a vicious uppercut put Zamora down for the count late in round four.

Rafael Herrera 17-4-2 (3) vs Midget Wolgast 43-4-1 (14)

This was a technical battle that turned when Wolgast opened a gash over Herrera's left eye with a lead right in the fourth. From that point on, Midget was a step ahead and he built a lead on all three cards until a single straight left from Rafael put him down form the count in round ten.

Manuel Ortiz 37-5 (19) vs Owen Moran 31-8-3 (15)

This fight wasn't particularly close, but it was competitive most of the way. Ortiz used superior hand speed and technique to control the majority of the rounds and he showed the toughness required to fight on even terms when a brawl broke out. Moran was floored in round eleven with a short hook and Ortiz earned the wide UD. 119-110 & 118-110 x2
