Bantamweights Third Round
Owen Moran 30-8-3 (14) vs Baltazar Sangchili 18-1-2 (4)
After two slow rounds, Sangchili opened a bad cut over Owen's left eye with a dazzling four punch combo late in round three. Moran's corner struggled to handle the wound, but the Englishman stormed out of his corner and hammered Baltazar all over the ring until a booming over hand right crashed into Sangchili's chin and put him down for the count.
Midget Wolgast 42-4-1 (13) vs Kid Williams 18-2-1 (6)
Williams right hand brought early swelling from Wolgast's left eye but Midget turned things around when he floored Kid with a beautiful combo late in the fifth for a nine count. As the bout progressed Midget was able to back up Williams and land the surprisingly more powerful blows on the way to the tight UD. 116-113 & 115-113 x2
Alfonso Zamora 18-3-1 (15) vs Jimmy Carruthers 20-2 (10)
In a bizarre turn of events, Carruthers fought off the more active Mexican in the early going when he floored him with counter hooks in rounds two and four. Alfonso continued pressing the action and he opened a nasty gash over the Australians right eye with a hook in round seven. Zamora continued to bang away with his hooks to the body and head and a furious rally down the stretch enabled him to take the tightest of UD's. 114-113 x3
Miguel Lora 17-3-2 (10) vs Harold Petty 17-4-1 (6)
Lora put a decisive end to the unexpected run from Petty with a comprehensive Boxing lesson that included a knockdown in the tenth from a nasty uppercut and Miguel took the wide UD, 120-107 & 118-109 x2
