I am two seasons in and I am having an absolute blast. I would say I've actually managed 95% of the games myself. There were some points where I might sim a week here or a couple games there, but all in all I've been totally hands on with this team.

I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the trades that I have made. . .

April 12, 2013

Red Sox Send: MR Pedro Peato, MR Drake Britton
Rangers Send: 1B Mitch Moreland

Notes: This deal worked out really well for me. Moreland was a big contributor for the past two years and played WAY above his potential especially in 2013. I really don't feel like I paid much for him at all.

April 17, 2013

Red Sox Send: SS Stephen Drew, MR Allen Webster, SS Tzu-Wei Lin, SP Brian Johnson, 3B Garin Cecchini
Astros Send: SP Michael Foltynewicz, 1B Michael Singleton

Notes: I decided early that I was going to invest in Iglesias. The guy is a solid SS, and with the way Salty has hit the ball, going pure defense at SS was fine with me. Also, I added two solid prospects. Side note: Cecchini is playing really well for Houston. He is now their starting 3B.

May 18, 2013

Red Sox Send: 2B Jonathan Hee
Reds Send: IF Cesar Izturis

Notes: This was a simple trade out of necessity. Ciriaco was injured and I wanted a better infield option than Sutton. Izturis was at AAA for the Reds, and was cheap.

May 23, 2013

Red Sox Send: MR Alfredo Aceves, OF Daniel Nava
Padres Send: MR Joe Thatcher, OF Mark Kotsay

Notes: This one was tough to do, but I really wanted to add Thatcher. I really liked Nava. He was a spark plug, and although his numbers did not always reflect it, he could definitely contribute. Kotsay added a little more flexibility though since he could also play 1B.

June 12, 2013

Red Sox Send: C Ryan Lavarnway, SP Clay Bucholz, OF Jonny Gomes, SP Brandon Workman, SP Matt Barnes
Giants Send: Tim Lincecum

Notes: So not every trade was a gem. I thought Lincecum was going to be the piece I needed, and Lavarnway and Gomes were two guys I never saw doing much with me in the Majors. Lincecum went 2-1 in 7 starts and spent A LOT of time on the DL. BUST. On another note, Lavarnway hit .263 with 27 HR and 102 RBI in Texas in 2014.

July 19, 2013

Red Sox Send: OF Ryan Kalish, MR Craig Breslow, SS Deven Marrero, C Blake Swihart, SP Pat Light
Marlins Send: SP Ricky Nolasco, SP Jacob Turner, SO Jorgan Cavanerio

Notes: THIS was the trade i should have made in June. I was going back and forth between Nolasco and Lincecum, and decided to deal with the Giants. Nolasco only went 3-4 for me, but he was the much better option out of the two in my opinion. Oh well. I got Jacob Turner out of the deal, and I just locked him him for 3 more seasons.

November 5, 2013

Red Sox Send: SP Felix Doubront, C David Ross
Angels Send: OF Josh Hamilton

Notes: Looking back at this one, I am surprised the Angels dealt Hamilton. Doubront was highly sought after, and Ross was just the icing on the cake. Neither had spectacular years for the Angels, and Doubront missed 4 months with a shoulder injury.

December 23, 2013

Red Sox Send: OF Mike Carp
Cubs Send: MR Carlos Gutierrez

Notes: Although he had a phenomenal 2013 campaign, Carp wasn't going anywhere with my team. Gutierrez secured me a AAA option at the ML level if needed.

April 1, 2014

Red Sox Send: OF Shane Victorino
Marlins Send: 2B Noah Perio, OF Justin Ruggiano, C Jeff Mathis

Notes: This turned out to be a good deal for me as well. Victorino was just too expensive to use as a utility outfielder and with Hamilton, Pence, and Bradley Jr out there, that is all he would be. I dumped his salary, picked up Mathis who could have filled in at C if I had an injury (I did not, luckily) and Ruggiano had a GREAT year. Too bad I'm not resigning him.

June 6, 2014

Red Sox Send: SP Jorge De La Rosa, 1B Jonathan Singleton, SS Jose Vinicio, OF Manuel Margot, SP Ty Buttrey
Mariners Send: SP Cole Hamels, MR Charlie Furbush, SP Taijuan Walker

Notes: I love, love, love this deal. De La Rosa was mediocre at best. Although I had to include Singleton to get it done, with the emergence of Bogaerts at 1B, it was not a big deal to me. Furbush will be a MR from the left side this year with Thatcher as my LH specialist, and Hamels and Walker will be #2 and #3 in my rotation. Also, Singleton won Rookie of the Month in August.

July 28, 2014

Red Sox Send: MR Shawn Camp, SP Rubby De La Rosa, SP Michael Foltynewicz, 2B Sean Coyle
Padres Send: OF Carlos Quentin, 3B James Darnell, C Austin Hedges

Notes: I wanted to add a big bat from the right side, and that is exactly what I did. Ortiz and Moreland were splitting time at DH, and just not cutting it. Quentin came out hot and hit in his first 17 games in Boston. His .280/13/26 for the year was not too shabby either. He just scares the crap out of me with how often he gets hit by pitches.

Well there you have it. I feel like I've done a pretty decent job GM'ing thus far. I've had some good Free Agent pickups too, mainly Hunter Pence, but with a strong farm system, and good trades I feel like I've built a solid team.
