Angels Strengthen Rotation

The California Angels have shown they're gunning for the the defending champion Seattle Mariners by dipping their toe heavily into the free agent pool with a pair of starting pitcher signings. First, they signed Dennis Eckersley (averaged 15 wins over the past 2 years with a 3.50 ERA) to a 4-year, 2.5 million dollar contract. They then followed that up by winning the bidding war for starter Rick Reuschel who had an off-year in 1981 (9-17, 3.62 for bad Cubs team) after averaging 19 wins a season from 1977 - 1980. Reuschel signed for 3 years and 2.4 million dollars. Eckersley and Reuschel will join Rich Gale and Frank Tanana to give the Angels likely the strongest rotation on paper in the AL. But as we know, they don't play their games on paper, they play them on my computer and we'll see if the Angels spent their 5 million dollars wisely.
