Financial Reports
I'd like to see a league-wide financial report for each season, with a link to the specific team's finances page.
Things I'd want to see on this report:
Revenue
Team name
W/L record
market size
attendance&capacity
gate revenue, net average ticket price (gate revenue / attendance), gate revenue / game
national media contract & years left
local media contract & years left
merchandising revenue
playoff revenue, if any
year-to-date/final and projected team revenue (year-to-date when looking at current season, final when season is over, and keep the projected revenue so I can go back and see how my actual revenues lined up with the projected revenues)
Payroll related
Projected budget room
team cash reserves
team payroll
league-average payroll
luxury tax threshold, if any
team non-payroll expenses - allocated draft budget, staff payroll, scouting, player development (can be combined into a single number on this page, since details can be found on individual teams financial pages if desired)
revenue sharing pay-in (How much I kicked into the revenue sharing pool, if any)
net revenue sharing gain/loss (So if my team paid in 5mil, displayed on previous line, and got back 19.5mil via revenue sharing, I'd see that my net gain from revenue sharing was 14.5mil)
Possible additions
average age of major league + 40man roster
average team service time
# of pre-arbitration players
# of arbitration eligible players
# of free-agency eligible players
average contract length & salary
This "finances report" page would show a page that contained that data for every team in the league (all on one report, with option for exporting it to html or .xls), and be archived so I can compare 2015 finances to 2012 finances to 2032 finances. The ability to have a projected next-season finances would also be interesting. So if I was at opening day 2029, and the league started in 2000, I would have access to all of the league's 2000-2028 year-end finances, the 2029 year-to-date league finances, and the projected 2030 finances (plus the projected 2001-2029 finances).
Other game finances suggestions, not related to having a league financial report
If possible, I'd also like the AI to stop backloading large contracts to quite the extent that they currently sometimes do. Players who make 23.8mil in year 1 of a 6 year deal shouldn't be getting 41.5 mil by year 6 of the deal. Most contracts have a much smoother backloading curve to them, so if the deal started at 23.3mil, it might end up at 27 or 28, but not 41.5.
Also, maybe add the option to not guarantee contracts? So I (or an AI team) could cut a player who we feel isn't performing up to their contract, without having to pay out the remaining money on the contract. Baseball might have 100% guaranteed contracts in the real world, but the option should exist to have contracts not be guaranteed within OOTP, because not everyone plays an MLB format.
