Cubs make move, no longer cellar dwellers, but only moved ahead of Giants, we did have a fairly good month, going 10-14 in July. Not above .500 for a month yet, but getting closer.

- First addition to the team for the Orphans. Signed an injured Jack Sutthoff to a minor league contract. He is out for 5 months so wont help this year but at only 28, could be good for next season.
- Blues lose P Ed Scott for 2-3 months.
- Reds trade 2B Tommy Corcoran to Athletics for RP John McPherson and 1B Charlie Carr.
- Phillies lose SS Hughie Jennings for 9 months.
- Cardinals lose SS Bobby Wallace for 4 months.
