The Highlanders completed a big trade today, sending Harry Howell to the St. Louis Browns in exchange for starting pitcher Jack Powell.
Last year Powell was pretty good in St. Louis going 25-8 with a 1.78 ERA in 312.2 innings while striking out 145 batters.
Harry Howell ends his Yankee career after just one year. On the mound he was 3-9 with 1 save and a 4.38 ERA in 78 innings. He also played 9 games at second base for us as well, hitting .155 (9-58) with 5 RBI and 4 runs scored. While he wasn't great with the bat he was a big improvement defensively only making 1 error in those 9 games.
IRL Howell was 9-6 with a 3.53 ERA in 155.2 innings.
