NEWS-Ernesto Cruz has been inserted into the Iron Pig role of Closer once again. Cisco Casas is 1-3 and 9 of 14 Save opportunities, with a 5.50 ERA. He's just not getting the big outs and blowing saves in extreme fashion. Cruz will take over the role for a little bit and see if we can't get Casas righted. Gerald Davenport was optioned (2-0 9.00 in 9 IP 18 Hits) and Jorge Pacheco was recalled off his AAA rehab to balance the pen at 3 lefties 3 righties again.

FORMER IRON PIGS IN THE NEWS
Tom Jackson (PIT) tossed a 5-hitter over Baltimore. He's 2-2 7 Saves 2.83 in 14 games. Last year he was 7-1 37 Saves 2.40 in 59 games, 7 starts. We drafted him in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft out of Glen Rock HS, NJ. He was a 2-way guy that we tried both ways, and he's turned into a hell of a catch for Pittsburgh. They took him in the 2020 Rule 5 Draft. He's tossed 3 shutouts over the past 2 seasons. Career now he is 12-4 46 Saves 2.62 ERA in 150 games, 10 starts.
