That's because no player in their right mind is going to walk away from 10s of millions of dollars in guaranteed money. Even players who aren't stars earning a ton will still give it a go because they don't want to lose out. IRL CEIs happen to guys in the mlb towards the end of their career.

Haven't read anything in this thread that says that CEIs to star players with big contracts happen all the time. As far as players in baseball, that is a different story.
