14. Player prestige ratings.
This would be something that could be used to affect hall of fame selection and also have a real impact on things like fan interest and loyalty.
What I was thinking is that players would start out being unknowns and different things would increase their popularity. Being a #1 draft pick would give you say 1 prestige point. Leading the league in homeruns or batting average or wins or ERA might give you 5 points. Winning and MVP or Cy Young might give you 25 points, and so on. Winning a World Series and doing well would give you some points. Being selected to the All-Star team would give you points. Hitting milestones statistically would give you more prestige points. And so on.
It's something I've never seen modelled in a baseball game (Baseball Stars on the NES had a prestige rating but it was unaffected by performance) and I think it would be hard to pull off but would be truly innovative if it worked well and could add a lot to the immersion factor.
