The
Forest City Owls are from
Forest City, North Carolina. (Wikipedia tells me that Forest City was originally named Burnt Chimney: why would people change a unique name like Burnt Chimney to something as boring as Forest City?) They play in the
Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer league, and they have a marvelous little logo.
The
Walla Walla Sweets also play in a collegiate summer league, the
West Coast League.
Walla Walla is located in eastern Washington, and the name refers to the town's famous sweet onions.
The
Lubbock Crickets named themselves after
Buddy Holly's band. Holly was born in Lubbock, Texas, and his band was named the Crickets. The logo is my best attempt to trace the logo pictured
here.
Before they were named the
Stormchasers, Omaha's minor league team was known simply as the Omaha Royals. But for three years in the late 90s, they were renamed the Omaha Golden Spikes.
The last one is simply a colored-in version of a drawing that I found, at random, on the web.
Here. I used the colors of the Colorado Rockies, and drew my own pinstripes. I'm pretty happy with the result.
