Just made the following trades with my Astros, trying to get some younger-ish guys who are still cheap who can actually play a bit at the MLB level while unloading some of the older guys on the roster.
Trade 1
Houston gets SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (72/75) and MR Paco Rodriguez (36/60).
LA Dodgers get CL Jose Veras, SP Jordan Lyles, and $200k in cash (that I forgot to take off).
Should improve both my rotation and bullpen, and both guys are still under team control. Ryu worries me, but he can't do worse than the guys I've been running out there all year.
Trade 2
Houston gets SP Christopher Rusin (48/49).
Chicago Cubs get SP Erik Bedard.
Rusin's going into AAA at first, but may crack the rotation in September or next year if he does well.
Trade 3
Houston gets RF John Mayberry Jr.
Philadelphia gets 1B Carlos Pena and 2B Delino DeShields Jr. (I hate his projected skills).
Mayberry helps my OF issues and covers for Chris Carter going 1B/DH full-time without Pena around, plus he's arb-eligible after the year so I don't have to keep him around if he looks expensive.
