Problem with pitchers not being replaced when skipping innings?

I've had two games now where I've started a game and then Quick played 4 or 5 innings, one inning at a time, and the AI didn't take my pitcher out. Is this normal?? In one game Masterson gave up 26 runs in one inning and ended up with 235 pitches for the game with 17 walks. I Forced-quit OOTP, restarted it, and checked my setting so make sure i didn't do anything wrong. Two games later I joined my game from the 2nd inning after watching it progress in Real Time simulation and the AI had removed my starter after giving up 6 runs in the third inning and put in reliever Bryan Shaw. I decided to test the quick play again and sure enough it did the same thing. Shaw went 3 innings with no problems. Quick played another inning and he was now exhausted. Quick played yet another and he gave up 14 runs in one inning. His final line score was

5.1 IP 13 hits 17 er 11 bb 1 k 0 hr 158 pitches 1 wp 1 hbp and 38 batters faced.

Most of those stats came in the 7th inning - i just fast forwarded another half inning and HE'S STILL IN THE GAME!!

Is this how it's supposed to work??
