This is prefaced with the standard "I am not a programmer", but I don't think it would be that difficult to implement double-elimination. Right now, playoff series are set up as "best of X", which can also be interpreted as "lose four and you're done" (in a 7-game series). As an alternative, it could be set up as a standard four-team bracket with "lose two and you're done."
